Derek Law
Chair

Derek Law was appointed Chair of the Board of JISC Advance in November 2008, which commenced trading in August 2009. Previously Derek was the Senior Officer for the Information Resources Directorate and University Librarian at Strathclyde University from 1999 until October 2008. Before joining Strathclyde, Derek held appointments at King’s College London and at the universities of Edinburgh, St Andrews and Glasgow. He was awarded the Barnard Prize for contributions to Medical Informatics in 1993, Fellowship of King’s College London in 1997, Fellowship of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1999, an honorary degree by the Sorbonne in 2000, the IFLA medal in 2003 and Honorary Fellowship of CILIP in 2004.
Guy Lambert
Managing Director

Guy Lambert was appointed in January 2009 as Managing Director of JISC Services Management Company, which commenced trading in August 2009 as JISC Advance. Guy has worked closely with JISC advisory service directors, Regional Support Centre management, JISC executive and other stakeholders to ensure the new company provides maximum benefits to the learning community, combining world class expertise with exceptional value for money. Guy has extensive experience within the public and private sector, including the Foreign and Commonwealth office. He worked for more than 25 years within the IT services industry for Honeywell, Bull and Steria at UK Board level. He led teams providing software development, integration, managed services and consultancy, to clients mainly across the public sector. He believes technology deployment should always focus on delivering practical improvements to the business process, delivering benefits directly to students, teachers, researchers or administration via close engagement between technologists and practitioners.
Tracey Boston-Townsend
Operations Director
Tracey Boston-Townsend was appointed as Operations Director in January 2010. Tracey has 17 years’ experience within the education sector, undertaking both operational and administrative leadership roles. Prior to her appointment with JISC Advance, Tracey worked as Special Projects Manager for Royal Holloway, University of London. Her remit encompassed driving the implementation of the college development and business improvement strategy, leading multi-disciplinary teams and identifying cost savings and efficiency gains. Previously Tracey also held senior posts at Goldsmiths, University of London, University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University and at the University for the Creative Arts, where she was Head of Registry Services. Tracey remains committed to the sector and to the delivery of quality service provision, driven by the needs of users.
